Dear East Freo Church family,
I hope you are as encouraged as I am to know that despite all the challenges we face, God is still on his throne! I’ve been powerfully reminded of this truth as we’ve worked through the first portion of the book of Revelation together. God is still on his throne! I hope this truth continues to encourage you daily as you walk this life of faith with all of its ups and downs.
As I look back over the last couple of months, it seems like it has been a busy time for us! In addition to working through Revelation (which is challenging enough!), we appreciated visits from Cam and Kath Beeck, Kathy Sinclair from Baptist World Aid, and also enjoyed our combined services, picnics and Father’s day events. Many of our churchgoers attended the recent men’s and women’s conventions and our young adults enjoyed their weekend away fighting for sporting glory and bragging rights at SportsFest! We’ve also seen two new small groups start – the Nedland’s adults group on Wednesday nights and the women’s group that meets at the Fremantle Arts Centre every second Thursday morning. Finally, the Fresh program has continued to roll out with the aircon units being relocated, the auditorium being painted and the Mother’s feeding room established. We are very thankful to the Fresh team for their skills and advice and give thanks to Stepping Stones for sponsoring the new Mother’s feeding room.
As we look ahead to the next few months, we have a number of exciting upcoming ministry opportunities, including the women’s retreat this weekend, the Operation Christmas Child shoebox appeal, Baptist World Aid’s Big Heated Gifts, a visit from Power to Change in early December, Stepping Stones Christmas concerts on December 14 and of course, our Christmas services where we hope to welcome many guests into our church. We will also hold our Annual Planning Meeting on November 17 where we will present the 2020 budget and ministry plan to the members. Finally, in terms of the preaching plan moving forward, we will finish our excursus into the book of Revelation this weekend and then begin a new series called The Throne, where we will look at some of the key leaders and characters surrounding the throne of Israel in 1-2 Samuel.
A big focus for us next year will be our centenary celebrations in late October 2020. This will be a very significant time for our church as we thank the Lord for 100 years of ministry from this location! We will be looking to establish a committee to organise this event, so please let me know if this is something you are interested in being part of.
Finally, thank you for your ongoing prayers and support of our church. Please continue to pray for the church Council, staff, volunteers and for those in the church who need prayer. I hope you have a blessed week ahead and rest in the assurance that God is on his throne! Let me close with the penultimate verse of our Revelation series:
To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever! (Revelation 5:13)
